DescriptionMap of Delaware and Maryland by Johnson & Browning, dated 1862, that shows twenty-one Maryland counties: Allegany, Anne Arundel (spelled "Ann Arundel") Baltimore, Calvert, Caroline, Carroll, Cecil, Charles, Dorchester, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Kent, Montgomery, Prince George's, Queen Anne's (spelled and referred to as "Queen Ann"), St. Mary's, Somerset, Talbot, Washington, and Worcester. By the time this map was published Baltimore City had been established as a county (1851) but this map does not make any special notation to indicate this change in status. Includes symbology for such features as railroads, canals, capitals, and cities and illustrations for a Harper's Ferry and a number of buildings in Washington D.C.: the U.S. Post Office, the U.S. Treasury Building, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and the U.S. Capitol. Near the illustration of the Capitol is an explanatory note about the Mason Dixon line.
