Description	Photograph taken by H. L. (Henry Louis) Mencken of the old county schoolhouse on the northeast corner of West Belvedere Avenue (now Northern Parkway) and Falls Road in the Mount Washington section of then Baltimore County, Maryland. Built of wood frame construction with board and batten siding, this building is most likely Sally Welsh's school, one of two "inexpensive formal education" schools available in the Mount Washington area at the time of the Civil War. This one-room school building was eventually replaced by a gas station.
