Mrs. David Morrison,
Lancaster, Penna.
Dear Virginia:
I have addressed the letters and forwarded them.
Ernest Roberts is an old friend of your father's and always asks about him when we meet.
I hope that you are comfortable in the new apartment and developing some talent as a housekeeper. Please remember the advice of an old and wise uncle: the main thing in marriage is to be polite. Always treat your husband as if he were a strange and handsome gentleman whose good will you had reason to cultivate.
The weather down here is turning infernal and so I begin to feel pretty good. I always do my best work when the temperature is high. This Summer I'll be beset by the proofs of two books, one of them more than a million words long. Thus I'll be kept on the jump.
Yours,
(Signed)H.L.Mencken
