(Editor's note: Demand for meat products, such as pork, greatly exceeded supply during World War II. Thus, these products were tightly rationed by the U.S. Office Price Administration.)
Transcript	Southern Farms Aunt Lucy Pork Products Country Style WALKERSVILLE ,MD . Dear Customer : Summer is almost here, also the end of our season for selling pork products. As you probably know, we always have practically closed our business during the summer months of June, July and August. This year we are forced to close a little earlier, on account of the shortage of hogs . We are entirely out of one-year-old hams, hams that during the winter of 1943-1944 . This past winter (1944-1945) we were unable to get any amount of hams for curing, which means that we will not have any old hams for sale during the coming fall and winter (1945-1946) . However, we hope to be able to operate in a limited way this coming fall, at which time you will hear from us. We want to take this opportunity to thank you for the many orders you sent us during the past season, and we are sorry that we have to discontinue our shipping at this time .
