RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR DRIVING DURING AIR RAID WARNING PERIODS
1. Who may drive
Driving after any public air raid warning is forbidden, unless drivers are a) engaged in emergency activities b) authorized to drive a vehicle for which an emergency card has been issued by the Police Department, with the approval of the Baltimore Committee on Civilian Defense.
2. Emergency cards
Emergency cards must be displayed during the period any air raid warning is in effect.
3. Driving speed
Driving speed must not exceed fifteen miles per hour when driving between sunset and sunrise.
4. Lights
When driving during blackouts, the only lights visible should be
(a) front --- two dim lights mounted in front
b) rear --- at least one red light
5. Passing cars
Do not pass any other moving vehicle
6. Clear view
Keep your windshield spotlessly clean both inside and out. Keep car well ventilated so that no mist will form on inside of windshield.
7. Street crossings and turns
At intersections, pedestrians and vehicles may be almost invisible. You may increase the visibility of your car by a white strip (paint, adhesive tape, etc.) on the running board and on the fenders. The front and rear bumpers may also be painted white or covered with tape, etc. DRIVE CAREFULLY.
8. Parking Car
Never leave car on the street except when it parked on the right hand side and close to the curb. Double parking is not allowed. Park at least twenty-five feet from corners and fire plugs.
VIOLATION OF THESE RULES AND REGULATIONS WILL RESULT IN REVOCATION OF YOUR EMERGENCY CARD.
