Know all men By these presents That I David Poe of Baltimore County and State of Maryland for and in consideration of the Sum of Eighty Six Pounds five Shillings current money to me in hand paid by George Poe of the City of Baltimore and State aforesaid the Receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have Bargained and Sold and do hereby Bargain and Sell unto the said George Poe a negro man named Jack to have and to hold the Said Negro Man to the said George Poe his heirs and Assigns forever and the Said David Poe for himself his heirs Executors and administrators doth hereby covenant and agree to and with the Said George Poe the Said negro man unto him the Said George Poe his heirs & Assigns to warrant and forever Defend against him the Said David Poe and all persons claiming By from thro and under him the Said David Poe and against all manner of Persons whatsoever in witness whereof I have hereunto Let my hand and Seal this 30th day of March in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and two.
