Josiah M. Cleaveland Bill of Sales to John F Duryee
Know all men by these presents that I Josiah M Cleaveland of Baltimore county and state of Maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of four hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by John F. Duryee of the same place at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt sohereof is here by acknowledged have granted Bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said John F. Duryee his executors, administrators and assigns. One sign and post. one large stove and pipe, eight kegs painted yellow and gilt five demijohns, eight decanters, eight glass square bottles eight tumblers twelve poster bottles four pitchers, four tin candlesticks, three small mahagony tables, two pine tables, twelve chairs, seven green benches, one oyster stand and fixtures, one glass showcase, two door on screens, two iron pots, two bake ovens, one griddle, five stove jars and one jug, three cots, five mattress, two bedsteads, five pails, six boxes cigars, one tin beer pitcher, four tubs, one barrel part full of crackers, one cask of ale, half barrel of flour, half barrel of salt beef, one slate, two castors, one knife box, one candle box four counterpaines, eighteen sheets. The bar and fixtures at the house corner of Marsh market space and Pratt Street. All the beds, bedding and all other things in said house to which I have any title.
To Have and to hold all and singular the goods and chattels above bargained and sold or mentioned or intended so to be to the said John F Duryee his executors administrators and assigns forever. And I the said Josiah M Cleaveland for myself my heirs executors and administrators all and singular the said goods and chattels. Unto the said John F Duryee his executors administrator and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In witness & whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this second day of January eighteen hundred and thirty.
